Rwanda Education Board REB PLE and O’Level Results Released

Rwanda REB Results 2023-2024: result 2023 by National Examinations Results – The Rwanda National Examinations Council (RNEC) is responsible for the overall administration, regulation, and supervision of national examinations and accreditation in primary and secondary schools in Rwanda.

The Ministry of Education has announced the results of national examinations for Primary and Ordinary Level (O’Level) on Tuesday September 27. A total of 206,286 (90.69%) out of 227,472 students who sat for the PLE passed and, for O’Level, a total of 108,566 (85.66%) out of 126,725 students who sat for the exams passed.

The Honorable Minister of Education Dr Valentine UWAMARIYA who presided over the event disclosed that Primary 6 students performed well compared to the previous year of 2021 with an increase of 7, 9% while, for O’Level, there is a slight decrease in performance of 0.74%.

“A total of 206,286 (90.69) out of 227,472 students who sat for the PLE passed and, for O’Level, a total of 108,566 (85.66 %) Out of 126,725 students who sat for the exams passed. Females are 114,286 (55.4%) and Males 92,000 (44.6%) and for O’level is 85, 66% (108,566 candidates) as compared to 86.4% in 2021 with a decrease of 0, 74%. Out of these 108,566 candidates (who passed); 54.16% (58,804) were Females; while 45.84% (49,762) were Males.”   The minister said.

 There are two ways of checking the national exams results including (i) the use of the link available on the NESA’s Website (SDMS :: School Data Management System | LOGIN) and (ii) the use of Short Message Service (SMS). On Mobile Phone, one can go to SMS and write index number, and then send to 8888.

In primary, Isezerano Forever Yacinthe from Saint André Kabgayi in Muhanga District was announced as the best performer in PLE. He aspires to become a medical doctor,

Ntwari Manzi Albert from Academie de la Salle in Gicumbi District who was announced as the best perfomer in O’Level said he wants to become a great engineer,

“My dream is to become the richest man of the world; I want to be a great engineer to be able to collect huge fortune.”

The best top 10 students; 5 in Primary and 5 in O’Level were rewarded with laptops.

Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) started on July 18, 2022 and ended on July 20, 2022 and five subjects were examined, namely: Mathematics, Science and Elementary Technology Kinyarwanda, Social Studies, and English.

Ordinary Level National examinations started on July 20, 2022 and ended on August 05, 2022. The examined subjects were nine, namely: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, Kinyarwanda, English and Entrepreneurship.

According to the Ministry of Education students going to Senior 1 and Senior 4 start school on October 4, 2022.

REB Result 2023-2024:

  • REB Rwanda is also responsible for the publication of Primary to Advance level national examinations results. Rwanda Education Board (REB) allows students to check the reb result in a very easy way. REB also Analyse results and produce performance statistics.
  • REB announced its result in the web portal, once the results are published candidates or schools whose results are withheld or canceled is also notified by the board.
  • All results will be issued by REB as soon as the award and processing of marks are completed for each centre. A list of all candidates showing their subject results and their overall performance will be printed and candidates will be able to view their results online through SMS on mobile phones or on the website. The result slips for individual candidates will also be printed and delivered to examination centres.

REB Results Released Date:

  • In last year i.e. 2016 The Rwanda National Examinations Council (RNEC) announced National Examination results like Senior Six or S6 National Examination Results in February 2023 and P6 & S3 National Examination Results announced in January 2023.

REB grades

  • The performance of every candidate shall be given a grade for each subject and a result slip issued accordingly, indicating the overall performance of the candidate.
  • Grades are awarded on a 9 point scale from 1 to 9 and a 6 point scale for A-level results from A to E for Principal passes and S for Subsidiary passes determined by establishing the position of a candidate’s raw marks on a frequency distribution curve.
  • The pass mark is 3 subsidiary passes in the principal subjects. To qualify for Higher Education, a candidate at A’ Level must also obtain 2 principals at E in two principal subjects with a minimum of 13 points.

Ordinary Level
Advanced Level

Workforce Development Authority (WDA) is responsible for conducting TVET National Exams.

Primary Leaving National Examination:

  • Primary Leaving National Examination also is known as P6, candidates will be eligible for the examination if they have completed six years of Primary Education. They must be presented by their schools as there are no private candidates at this level.

Ordinary Level National Examination:

  • Ordinary Level National Examination: also known as S3 candidates will be eligible if they have completed three years of Secondary Education. Only candidates presented by their school head teachers are eligible for this examination. They may be asked for proof of having sat the primary leaving examinations.

Advanced Level National Examination:

Advanced Level National Examination also is known as S6.

School Candidates

  • A school candidate must be a bonafide student who has been studying continuously for three years, after the Ordinary Level National Examination, in a Secondary School recognized as eligible to present candidates for the advanced Level National Examination

Private Candidates

  • A private candidate is one who is not entitled to enter as a school candidate but is eligible to register and sit for the examination in conformity with entry requirements stipulated by the Board.

Now your selected REB National Examinations Results will be displayed, you can download the result or print it for future purposes.

REB Examinations Results Via SMS

Students can access their RNEC results on phone by writing P6, S3 and S6 – index numbers and send SMS to 4891 or call 4848 a free line.
