Overview Of Caltech Student Portal
Caltech’s Student-Faculty Programs (SFP) office manages many different programs. If you are a student in any of the following programs, then this portal is for you: SURF, WAVE Fellows (including SR-EIP), Amgen Scholars, LIGO SURF, VURP/FlexVURP, NASA Space Grant, NASA SUPPR, JPL SIP, CSU STAR, and JPL MSP.

Caltech Student Orientations
Caltech students participating in SURF (or another SFP summer program) are required to attend a mandatory orientation session. If you were unable to attend one of the May sessions, please contact the SFP Office.
Caltech Student Start Date Information
This information is only for Caltech students. Visiting students should see the start date information on the Visiting Students page.
For Caltech students working on campus, you should simply go to work on your scheduled start date.
For Caltech students working at JPL and starting on June 14, you should:
- 1:00 – 2:00 pm–Attend the Check-in Fair, at the Center for Student Services, to get your JPL badge and parking/bus information.
For Caltech students working at JPL, on June 15:
7:30 am: For students taking the JPL summer bus, board at the Holliston Circle by Avery. Please note that masks will be required on the bus. If you are not taking the JPL summer bus, please arrive at the JPL Visitor Center no later than 8:00 am. For up-to-date information about parking, please visit the JPL Student Portal.
After the JPL orientation you will have a schedule to follow which will include appointments for mentor matching, IT provisioning, and badging. Be sure to bring your badging documentation. Only original documents will be accepted (no photocopies). You will receive your Day 1 schedule at the JPL orientation.
Caltech Student Other Week One Activities
Wednesday, June 15–12:00 pm – Wednesday Noon Seminar with Dr. Katerina Chatziioannou, Assistant Professor of Physics and William H. Hurt Scholar. The talk is titled “Studying the Universe with Gravitational Waves.” 153 Noyes. Due to indoor occupancy limitations, the talk will be limited to only 50 guests. Lunch will be provided for those 50.
Saturday, June 18–Summer Social: Beach Trip to Santa Monica:
Take a charter bus to the famous Santa Monica Pier! Spend the day touring the pier and the shops on the Promenade, or simply relax on the beach! $10 cost includes transportation. Depart Caltech 10:00 am; Depart Santa Monica 4:00 pm. Masks will be required on the bus. Sign-up here.
Safety Trainings
All students working with a Caltech mentor are required to attend safety training upon starting your program. SFP will email students with safety training dates, times, and registration links.
