Botswana PSLE Results Released | How To Check
Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2022 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) results.
A total of 49, 333 (Forty Nine Thousand Three Hundred and Thirty Three) candidates wrote the 2022 examination showing an increase in candidature of 5% from the 2021 candidature of 46,984 (Forty Six Thousand Nine Hundred and Eight Four). The 2022 cohort had 25,084 girls and 24,249 boys. The female candidates outperformed their male counterparts in all subjects.
The 2022 PSLE overall performance indicates that the proportion of candidates obtaining pass grades (Grade E or better), remains almost the same (99.88%) as that of the previous year (99.85%). This implies that almost all candidates who sat the PSLE qualified for the award of the minimum grade. There were only 35 candidates declared Ungraded, denoted by letter U and 23 candidates not able to reach requirements for the award of a grade, denoted by letter X. The proportion of candidates obtaining credit grades (Grade C or better) went down by of 1.52% from 72.01% in 2021 to 70.49% in 2022.
The percentage of candidates obtaining Grade A in this examination has remained at the same level though an insignificant decline of 0.22% was observed from 18.63% in 2021 to 18.41% in 2022. The proportion of candidates obtaining Grade B has also remained at the same level with an insignificant decline of 0.84% from 18.76% in 2021 to 17.92% in 2022.
A slight decline of 0.46% was also noted at Grade C from 34.62% in 2021 to 34.16% in 2022. The proportion of candidates at Grade D increased insignificantly by 0.96% from 19.96% in 2021 to 20.92% in 2022. There has also been an insignificant increase of 0.60% from 7.88% in 2021 to 8.48% in 2022 at Grade E.

Results Performance:
- A total of 42 517 candidates sat the 2016 PSLE examination showing a decrease from the 2015 candidature of 42 553. Of the 42 517 students, 21 408 were females and 21 109 were males.
- Performance in the 2016 PSLE results has increased by 1.40%, from 14.65% in 2015 to 16.05% in 2016 for Grade A.
- The percentage of candidates obtaining grade B has improved slightly by 0.04%, from 17.84 in 2015 to 17.88% in 2016. Candidates in Grade C declined by 0.67% from 37.25% in 2015 to 36.58% in 2016.
- North East District with 82.09% and South East District with 81.88% performed significantly higher than other districts. The least performing district is Ghanzi at 46.08%.
