The West African Examinations Council wishes to inform the general public that it is now possible for individuals to purchase Results Checker PINs and check BECE results via SMS using Mobile Money Platforms.  

The process is EASY and SIMPLE.  All that one needs to do is to Dial *944#   and follow the instructions.  Subscribers will then receive their results checker PIN/Text message of their BECE results on their phones.

It is expected that the checking of results via SMS will be extended to other examinations conducted by the Council in due course. 

The cost of each Results Checker PIN is  GHS 10 while the cost of an SMS text of results is GHS6.

How to Check your BECE Results on Mobile Phone

1. Dial *944# or *447*160# (WEAC Ghana Mobile Service)
2. Select Option 1 – Result Checker Pins
3. Select Option 2 – School and Private (BECE, WASSCE)
4. Payment Option (Network provider)
5. Choose your mobile wallet number – either Self or Other (NB: you will be charged GHS 10.00 as payment)
6. Now Dial *170#
7. Select Option 6
8. Follow by Option 3
9. Approve your Transaction
10. An SMS containing your Results checker PIN will be sent via your phone

How to Request your WAEC BECE Results via SMS

1. Dial *944#
2. Select Exam (e.g BECE)
3. Enter Year of Completion (Must be 1990 – 2021) for BECE School
4. Enter Index Number (Must be 9 to 12 digit)
5. Input your Date of Birth (Must be in this format dd/mm/yyyy)
6. Enter your Result Checker PIN
7. Wait for your result via SMS

What is index number in BECE?

The 12-digit index number format includes fisrt seven digits as school numbers,next three digits as candidates’ serial numbers and the last two digits for year of examination. WAEC explains that the new index numbers shallappear on the pre-printed objective answer sheets and attendance registers.

USING THE RESULT CHECKER VOUCHER

Enter your Index Number.
Select the Type of Examination (e.g.  WASSCE).
Select your Examination Year eg. 2003.
Enter the Serial Number found on the Voucher.
Enter the 12-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Voucher eg. 012345678912.
Confirm your Index Number and Examination Year. This is to ensure that your examination information is correct.
Click on Submit and wait for the display in the popup window. This may take several minutes.
